Three of our young stars were performing in Brisbane this week at state championships representing South Coast schools.
Anastacia Neumann competed in the 100m & 200m (13) and ran a PB of 12.67 in the final to secure a bronze medal in the 100m and a close race in the 200m final to secure 4th. Both events had many tough competitors but Ana was able to navigate the heats and semi-finals to secure her first state final races in what was a very successful weekend for Ana, with a couple of PB’s and great experience gained and a first ever state medal. Demonstrating great technique and the ability to perform under pressure and self-expectation was a good marker as to where she is at and how far she has come.
Siena Cox (10) was competing in the 100m, 200m & high jump. Siena won gold in the high jump with a fantastic clearance of 1.40m and has much more to give. She continues to develop her speed, explosive ability and confidence very well with her training partner (and sister) Liana pushing her every step of the way. Siena also achieved a bronze medal in the 200m having worked through a tough field and coming back from a slow bend to finish strong and qualified for Nationals in Adelaide 1st – 6th December 2017
Liana Cox (10) competed in the long jump and won a silver medal with a jump of 4.19m and like her sister also qualified for Nationals in Adelaide 1st – 6th December 2017. Liana was unfortunate to miss out on the 100m & 200m events due to illness but continues to develop her speed. There is nothing between the twins now with them taking turns as to who finishes first!
We wish Siena and Liana the best of luck as they travel to Adelaide in December!
